ABOUT THE ROLE: 

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer/SRE to work between our UK Product Team and our New Zealand engineering team. In the UK you’d be monitoring, diagnosing and resolving service and infrastructure reliability issues for our UK and European partners . You’d also be a remote member of our New Zealand technical team, helping to deliver a high quality platform and scale our systems. As part of a small team you’ll have a large impact on the technical direction of the platform, and play a big part in supporting the future growth of Cogo.


Responsibilities include:


  • Providing application support for UK and European partners
  • Working collaboratively with the platform team to design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure, monitoring, and deployment tooling to meet our requirements
  • Provision, configure and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure defined as code
  • Working with the Lead DevOps engineer in New Zealand to ensure Site Reliability
  • Troubleshooting problems across a wide array of services and functional areas
  • A willingness to contribute to the production codebase when necessary.



CRITICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong technical abilities, problem-solving, design, coding and debugging skills
  • Experience building and maintaining cloud infrastructure using code
  • Solid understanding of cloud security
  • Ability to learn and use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools



OUR TECHNOLOGY:

Cogo is built on the following technologies:


  • ReactNative and React
  • JavaScript, TypeScript, Python
  • GraphQL, NodeJS, Django
  • Amazon Web Services (CloudFront, EC2, S3, RDS, CloudFormation, Lambda)
  • Postgres flavoured SQL, including views and stored procedures
  • Docker


Direct experience with some or all of the above is a plus, but above all we’d expect you to be adaptable to working with new technologies and ideas, while having a solid base of experience to draw on.
