Join our Tech Team

We are looking for a New Zealand based Senior Software Engineer to join our SME team. This team is focused on building solutions that enable businesses to understand their environmental impact and take steps to improve it.

We aim to make an impact in the world, so we rely on our team to be mission-driven, have an appetite for learning new things, offer continuous support to one other, and to be discerning about what matters. All while building and improving our products that people love to use!

Role Requirements

• Working collaboratively with your peers to design, build, and maintain medium to large size features while reducing the system’s tech debt
• Becoming the go-to person for one or more of our core technologies, and taking initiative to learn new ones
• Owning the production operation and monitoring of the systems your work on
• Teaching your skills to your team, mentoring team members to accelerate their career-growth
• Questioning and adjusting our delivery processes, proactively looking for ways that we can improve
• Troubleshooting problems across a wide array of services and functional areas

Critical competencies: 

• Several years of experience building and maintaining web facing systems using high level languages
• Experience with (or a willingness to learn) Elixir and functional programming. It’s a straightforward transition from Ruby on Rails, Python, Node, etc. so we encourage those with experience with other frameworks to enquire
• Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure
• Ability to learn and use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
• Strong bias toward team building and continuous improvement

Nice-to-have experience: 

• Solid database/SQL experience
• API design experience

The salary for this role is $111,300 - $140,300 NZD depending on experience.
